Crackle Glaze nail varnish is a really fun and easy way to create nail art - and you don't need to be an artist to do it (in fact, you don't even h ave to be good at applying nail varnish!).
We stock two types of Crackle Glaze nail varnish to give you a huge choice of colours:
If you haven't used it before, it's a nail varnish that is specially formulate to crack as it dries - a bit like a glaze on china.
Even if you have used it before, our How To might help you perfect your technique and experiment with new ways of applying it!
Step 1 - first prepare your nails as per your normal manicure routine, choosing a base coat that will show through the 'cracks' in your Krackle Glaze as well as the Krackle Glaze colour. We stock a range of undercoats made by Toma for us with their Krackle Glaze polish but you can use any good quality nail varnish to get the look you want. Here are some colour combination ideas:
I've chosen my favourite colour combination to illustrate this How To - Toma's Silver undercoat with Mauve Krackle Glaze.
Step 2 - once your base coat is touch dry, paint over the Krackle Glaze varnish of your choice. As you paint it on, it will look matt and unappealing - but don't worry as the magic cracking effect takes place in seconds as the polish dries...and as it dries quickly, you won't have to wait too long!
The crackle effect you end up with will depend on how apply the Krackle Glaze.
Paint a good layer of Krackle Glaze for an all-over crackle effect - just as if you were applying normal nail varnish.
Paint a mean, thin layer of Krackle Glaze if you want it to break up into spots for a leopard or dalmation effect.
Experiment with the direction you brush the Krackle Glaze in as this will affect the direction of the cracks. Instead of painting from base to tip, try painting across the nail or even painting the Krackle Glaze on in a swirl!
Step 3 - Top coat. It is essential to top coat any Krackle Glaze nail varnish. All crackle glaze polishes are matt so you need to top coat them to add shine as well as to protect the Krackle Glaze and prevent flaking. Toma have formulated their own sealer top coat for use with Krackle Glaze but you can also use your own favourite top coat too.
Step 4 - sit back and admire your amazine Krackle nails!
