Orly History

Jeff pink, the man behind the brand, founded ORLY International in 1975 by a simple idea, to innovate natural nail care. ORLY beauty is a natural nail and body care range. There are over 25 treatments which include a comprehensive line of base and topcoats, strengtheners, quick dry agents, cuticle care products and speciality products to suit each and every need. ORLY is known as a trendsetter in fashion for nails. Taking influences from fashion trends before they hit the catwalk, ORLY creates limited edition, seasonal collections in addition to their 150 shades within the permanent collection. ORLY does not test on animals or believe in animal cruelty and the products are 3 free (no Toluene, DPB or Formaldehyde). No animal ingredients are used in the products; the shimmer polishes are infused with crystals rather than fish scales like other brands.

The Original French Manicure

Developed by Jeff Pink in the mid 1970’s, the Original French Manicure® has prevailed as the ultimate in nail chic. This versatile nail look first gained attention in Hollywood and soon after, became an instant classic on the runways of Paris.

"The idea of the French manicure look came to me while I was starting ORLY back in 1975. Movie and television directors wanted a versatile nail style to compliment a Hollywood star’s entire onset wardrobe. They were looking for a singular look that would coordinate with the numerous wardrobe changes actresses had to make in one day. Prior to the French Manicure, the manicurists were often changing the polish several times a day to match their onset wardrobe changes. As you can imagine this took up too much time. Once I started having the movie star stylists paint the nails with a white tip and a sheer, the celebrities loved it! I realized the most elegant, universal nail look is a natural nail look."

The Gripper Cap

ORLY introduced the award-wining gripper cap in 2002. Today, this patented, ergonomic tool continues to provide ease of opening and flawless performance. This innovation has always been the cornerstone of the ORLY success story. The rubberised exterior, combined with easy-to-grip dimples on the cap, makes the bottle simple to open and allows for a more controlled application of lacquer, resulting in a more professional looking manicure.
